How Are Pharmacies Delivering Vaccinations During COVID?

How Are Pharmacies Delivering Vaccinations During COVID?

As of the 14th of January 2021, vaccinations have been distributed to a number of High-Street pharmacies as the NHS continues to accelerate the biggest vaccination program in history.

The big franchise stores, such as Boots and Superdrug as well as many independent stores, will be the first of many community pharmacies to offer COVID-19 vaccinations. The first select stores to have offered the vaccine are:

  • Andrews Pharmacy in Macclesfield
  • Cullimore Chemist in Edgware, north London
  • Woodside Pharmacy in Telford
  • Appleton Village Pharmacy in Widnes
  • Boots in Halifax
  • Superdrug in Guildford

These 6 locations are scattered across the country, this again is most likely done to cover a larger surface area of the country and speed up the rate of vaccinations as well.

Why Have Pharmacies been Chosen as Vaccination Hubs?

With jabs now being offered at more than 200 hospital sites, along with nearly 1000 GP led sites, it is more than reasonable and obvious then, that a Pharmacy, which is by definition: a shop or hospital dispensary where medicinal drugs are prepared or sold, should be more than equipped to ‘dispense’ vaccinations amongst the people of the UK.

Another reason for Pharmacies being converted into vaccination hubs is that they are extremely common and accessible to a local community. Not all people have a medical facility or GP clinic on their doorstep, compared to the number of people living within walking distance of a pharmacy. It is much more convenient and easier for the ‘high risk’ category of the population to go to a pharmacy to get their COVID-19 vaccination then it is for them to travel to a hospital or GP clinic.

Pharmacies are also just another option for people wanting to be vaccinated, and as of the 14th of January, there have already been more than 2.4 million vaccination jabs delivered. Pharmacies are adding to this total and increasing the influx of COVID vaccinations across the country in the overall effort to try and eradicate COVID from the United Kingdom.

How our Partitions at Portable Partitions Company Can Help These Pharmacies

As this first list of pharmacies is being announced to start offering a COVID-19 vaccine, it will also mean that there will be a significant number of people going into these 6 pharmacies (as well as the several hundred more that are due to follow suit in the coming weeks and months) are going to fill up.

This of course can be very dangerous, as everyone knows by now that the virus will thrive and spread rapidly in close-quarters and there are not many places better for this than a simple pharmacy shop.

This is where we, at Portable Partitions Company, step in. Our range of partitions will be sure to drastically decrease the chance of spreading any viruses or diseases. We can adjust and adapt to any requirements/measurements that are needed for each specific pharmacy. Read on to check out the sort of partitions that we offer in order to keep you safe and turn any pharmacy into an efficient COVID vaccination hub.
