The experts at Portable Partitions Company were tasked with assessing the needs at the University of Warwick. We offered suitable solutions to simulate a real exam environment in their testing rooms.
Implementing these systems created a safer environment by reducing virus transmission risks for staff and pupils, while helping the students to focus on the job in hand.
How Portable Partitions helped The University of Warwick
The University of Warwick held Objective Structured Long Examination Records (OSLER) and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OCSE) examinations. These were very important as they were for doctors in training. The assessments were part of the final examination process. Students were required to submit two objective structured long examination records for each CCE block.
During these exams, an actor would sit in and the person taking the exam would need to diagnose the patient. We were called in so that we can identify and assess their requirements. After the assessment, the experts recommended hiring modular wall systems. They would be perfect for the needs of the university. Modular wall systems are the highest sound-dampening product in the range, making them ideal for these types of exams where privacy is required to simulate a doctor and patient scenario. They can also be easily configured to suit a range of table configurations without needing any tools.
Partitioning the Seating Areas
The university mandated the separation of seating areas in the exam hall to ensure the protection of both staff and students as they took their exams. Maintaining a controlled environment where students can take their exams and staff can supervise was the top priority. Our experts were able to come up with a tailored layout that effectively separated the tables whilst maximising space.
Simulating the Doctor and Patient Scenario
One of the great benefits of using the modular walls is that they offer a high level of sound-dampening. This helped the students to concentrate better during their exams. Students needed to actively diagnose an actor patient who would be present with them during these types of exams. The modular walls also helped to separate individual desks into small areas which created a level of privacy to help simulate the environment in when a doctor and patient may interact in.
Creating a One-Way System
The modular walls we hired to establish a one-way system in the exam hall. The flow of traffic would only be moving in one direction to reduce contact between staff and students. These partitions offer a cost-effective solution that you can easily customise to meet various requirements.
The University of Warwick were very happy with the quality of products and service that was provided. This is what they said about their experience:
“We have been working with the Portable Partition Company for over 5 years now and believe we would struggle to find another supplier able to deal as efficiently and flexibly with our ever-changing needs and locations. The whole team are friendly and professional, and they work tirelessly on our large exam setup, constantly checking that the erection of the screen matches our exact needs. Alex works with our team from the start to finish of each project, guaranteeing that there are no hitches on the setup day, and provides a calm head when things change last minute (as they inevitably do!) to ensure that this crucial part of our set up can be completed on time, every time.”
